Brownie Heart Cupcakes with a Love Lesson

Adorable and easy, these cupcakes can be whipped up for Valentines Day. Kids will love cutting out the brownie heart decoration. This is a family baking activity and can be followed by a short lesson about love.

Biblical verse: “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Question for kids: How can we show God-like love to all people, cite some examples.

Have kids read the verse, describe what the verse means to them. Serve cupcakes and have fun!

This recipe need not be made from scratch. I created a recipe that is really a doctored brownie mix and simple frosting. The frosting is homemade however because I just cannot stand the gummy, too sweet, canned stuff.

You will need:
-Brownie Mix (and eggs, oil, etc)
-1/4 cup sour cream
-1/3 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate chips
-Small heart shaped cookie cutter

(Bake according to box directions)

For frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1 stick softened butter, 1/2 tsp vanilla, i pack of chocolate pudding mix. (Add milk in tiny increments as needed)
